Hydroseeding Specialist

Fast, effective vegetation establishment for construction, infrastructure, agricultural and environmental projects across the UK.

Professional hydroseeding across the UK

BioSeed is a specialist hydroseeding contractor working with construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, housing, agricultural and environmental clients across the UK. We help projects establish strong, even vegetation cover quickly — protecting soil, controlling erosion and meeting reinstatement requirements.

Hydroseeding is a fast, accurate way to seed large or difficult areas. A precisely blended slurry of seed, mulch, fertiliser, water and soil conditioners is sprayed directly onto prepared ground using a hydroseeder. The mulch layer locks the seed in place, retains moisture and shields the surface from rain and runoff while the seed germinates.

For sites where traditional broadcast seeding, drilling or turfing would be slow, expensive or impractical — steep banks, embankments, riverbanks, attenuation areas, large open ground or terrain with poor access — hydroseeding is usually the most cost-effective solution.

Why clients choose BioSeed

  • Rapid germination and even cover from a single application.
  • Excellent results on slopes and erosion-risk sites.
  • Each mix tailored to soil type, exposure and target finish — amenity grass, wildflower, ecological reinstatement or stabilisation.
  • Suitable for sites where machinery access is limited.
  • Practical, reliable, environmentally responsible.

Sectors we work with

Construction sites, highways and infrastructure schemes, housing developments, commercial landscaping, agricultural reinstatement, watercourse and SuDS protection, environmental restoration and ecological mitigation. Read more on the Applications page.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly will the grass establish?

In favourable conditions you can expect visible germination within 7–14 days and full establishment within 4–8 weeks, depending on the season, seed mix, soil and weather. Hydroseeding accelerates this versus broadcast seeding because the mulch retains moisture and protects the seed.

Can hydroseeding be used on steep slopes?

Yes — slopes and embankments are one of the strongest use cases. The mulch layer binds seed to the soil, reducing wash-off, and the establishing root system stabilises the surface against erosion. We tailor the mix and application rate to the gradient and exposure.

How does hydroseeding compare with turfing or drilling?

Hydroseeding is typically faster to apply over large areas, more cost-effective per square metre than turf, and reaches places drilling or broadcast seeding cannot. Turf gives instant cover but at much higher cost; broadcast seed is cheap but unreliable on slopes and exposed ground.
